Charlotte, NC – March 10, 2016 —
The Million Youth March of Charlotte along with Hope Haven, Inc. will host a youth panel Saturday, March 12, 2016. Started from the Bottom: Tales of Triumph and Youth Call to Action will take place at the Hope Haven facility located at 3815 N. Tryon Street and will begin at 11 o’clock in the morning.
The event will be hosted by On-Air Personalities Melanie Pratt of Praise Charlotte 100.9 FM and Shuvar Rodgers of Power 104.4 FM. Attendees will also hear from the story of Rio Givens, Vice President of the Swerve Kings & Queens of Charlotte Car club, a community based organization that also hosts youth events and community giveback programs. The goal of the panel discussion is to help youth attendees identify ways to overcome obstacles and be successful, productive youth and adults.
After an intense 2015, with Charlotte reporting 62 homicides, the highest in six years, the organization believed it necessary to return to the foundation of its origin. The theme of this year is Back to Basics and will incorporate more focus on youth engagement and activities that provide alternatives to counterproductive activity.
