Hurry Up and Drop The Album, Dammit!

It’s officially the Winter of 2016. Typically, this is a time when most rappers hibernate in the studio, working to release that summer heat. With a new year ahead of us, here, a few artists that will make this year’s music even better; let’s just hope they’re in the kitchen, playing with fire!

Drake

After dropping an album/mixtape, a collaborative project with Future, beef records for Meek Mill, and a slew of quality stand-alone tracks in 2015, it’s time to start getting ready for The 6 God’s main dish, ‘Views From The 6.’ With the NBA All-Star Weekend in Toronto this year, hopefully, Drizzy will take heed of the opportunity and drop something.

Kanye West

According to West, himself, his next project (tentatively named ‘SWISH’) will be in direct contrast to his last album, ‘Yeezus.’ So far, we’ve heard ‘All Day,’ ‘4, 5 Seconds’ and a Nike diss track, ‘Facts.’ However, being the unpredictable ‘Ye, no telling what’s on the final version of the album. With his ‘Yeezy Season’ (Adidas) line in progress, an album should definitely be up next! Swish, another two points for Team Kanye!

Big Sean

The Detroit rapper had a great year with the success of his latest album, ‘Dark Sky Paradise.’ And, recently, G.O.O.D. Music’s President, Pusha T, confirmed a Spring 2016 release for Sean’s next album. Hopefully, it’ll be as good as his last!

Schoolboy Q

From numerous sources, TDE’s emcee, Q, spent most of 2015 in the studio. His 2014 project ‘Oxymoron’ made a significant impact, so it’s definitely time to hear some more heat.

J Cole

The Fayetteville native spent 2015 on the road, performing in front of sold out crowds, for his Forest Hills Drive Tour. This year, Cole plans to focus on his label, Dreamville, despite the speculation about a possible collaboration project with Kendrick Lamar looming. While we await more ‘Black Friday’ freestyles, we can enjoy the compilation, ‘Return of the Dreamers.’
