‘SPREAD is dedicated to outlining influencers, positioned to expose and celebrate, and presented to surprise, as well as inform - in the Dupp & Swat signature style. The magazine's inaugural presentation titled, THE GARMENT DISTRICT, promises to straddle the notions of nostalgia and novelty. "While there is pressure for this magazine to deliver an interesting perspective, self-imposed of course, we promises readers that this colorful square magazine is anything but square" , says Davita Galloway (Editor-In-Chief of SPREAD magazine) . Along with Galloway's partner and brother Dion, SPREAD strives to celebrate local creative businesses and business owners, bringing back posters, games, and stickers in magazines and creating a tangible texture to the magazine industry. This quarterly magazine will be very raw, as both owners convey the message of being ok with expressing oneself however they choose.’ Carolyn Taylor, Exxaminer.com, 2014
WHY DID YOU WANT TO START A MAGAZINE FOR THE CULTURE OF CHARLOTTE?
‘This is something we’ve always wanted to create. My brother and I have a list of things to do, if you will, and when we can tackle an item, we do. By no means, is this something we thought to do last week. And, for the same reasons dupp&swat exists, SPREAD is here to celebrate the Queen City’s comprehensive culture and beyond. We, oftentimes, are a city that gets downplayed but, to the contrary, we have a lot to offer; this is just another platform to highlight such.’ Davita Galloway for Touch of Daz Interview, 2014
